HORSE & ACTIVITIES INSTRUCTOR

 
FULL TIME / PERMANENT
 

Located on the stunning Kāpiti Coast, El Rancho is a one of Aotearoa’s largest Camp & Conference Centres.

Hosting close to 25,000 guests annually, we have been hosting churches, schools, retreats, family reunions and community groups for 60 years, across our 60 acre site.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Activities team, with a particular focus on overseeing our Horse programme.

The main purpose of this role is:

Horse Instructor

  • To provide an enjoyable, introductory horse riding experience for children and families.
  • To ensure the good health (both mental and physical), care and management of the horses. Including the purchase of new animals for the programme.
  • To obtain and maintain casual labour and volunteers to assist in the Horse programme and its maintenance.
  • To develop, implement and report on specific ways to grow the Horse programme to ensure its continued position at El Rancho.
  • To follow all health and safety requirements, policies and procedures for the Horse programme.
  • To look after the horse equipment and arrange repairs and purchases.
  • To maintain the grounds and buildings required for a successful Horse programme.
Activities Instructor
 
  • To instruct across the full range of El Rancho activities. Carrying out their safe operation and instruction, so that guests have a positive and fulfilling experience.
  • To assist with the administration and development of activities and programmes.

There will also be a requirement to be flexible, working within other departments, such as Guest Services, Facilities and Programmes on regular occasions.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience with caring for and riding horses.
  • Be fit, strong and passionate about a range of adventure activities.
  • Be confident and outgoing, with an ability to communicate well in a group setting.
  • Manage own stress well.
  • Manage conflict with grace and clarity.
  • Balance competing demands and priorities well.
