Kids Camps Leaders

Kids camp leaders - the heroes of kids camp

Parents think their campers are coming to camp for the activities... campers know they are coming to hang out with their epic leaders!

They say it takes a village to raise a child. When you come to El Rancho as a leader, you play a small but mighty part of the 'village' in a child's life. It is so empowering when you get to know your campers, investing in them and who they are as people. Leading at Kids Camp is about this and so much more.

We believe that the best way to share the love of Jesus is through building healthy relationships and while you may be helping a camper on the Rockwall, serving them a meal or reading them a bedtime story to settle at night, you are actually saying "you are valuable and loved by God and us".

As you give out to your campers you will also be receiving so much! We see camp as a great opportunity for leadership development, so before every camp we have a weekend with just the leaders to train and equip you for the week ahead. You will be so glad you spent time over your school holidays at El Rancho. Leaving camp feels like leaving your second family, as together you experience everything that kids camp has to offer.

CABIN LEADERS

CABIN LEADERS

16 YEARS AND OVER

Cabin Leaders are young people who are 16 years or older and without them Kids Camp would be impossible!

This is the most involved role in the leadership structure of Kids Camp and brings with it the most rewarding interactions with campers. Cabin Leaders are truly special people as they carry the devotional times, help to mentor our younger leaders as well as provide incredible care to our campers.

If you are looking for a space to serve, grow alongside other young people who love Jesus and have a lasting impact on kids' lives then this is it.

LEADERS

LEADERS

15 years

Leaders are aged 15 years and are a key role in our Cabin Leader Groups.

This is a bridging role between being an LIT and a Cabin Leader.

Leaders are with the campers throughout the whole programme and are such an important part of ensuring the kids are enjoying camp and feeling connected.

LITS

LITS

14 years

Leaders-in-Training are our youngest leaders. They work alongside the older leaders to provide awesome care for our campers.

As well as learning how to be a great leader they help with crucial duties around camp (like the dishes and vacuuming!) and partake in their own evening programme where they receive training and development as a group.

To be an LIT at camp you will ideally be in Year 10, however if you are keen to come during Year 9 then send us an email with the reasons why you think you're ready for the challenge early.

HOW THE TEAM WORKS TOGETHER

Each Cabin Group, caring for around 8 - 12 campers, is a team made up of LITS, Leaders and Cabin Leaders. With every one of our leaders playing their part and working together to provide a safe and caring environment for our campers, we can express our core Christian values of love, kindness and great hospitality.

We believe in servant leadership, so although we have some structure to the different age groups, we recognise that we are all just as important as each other when it comes to making the kids the focus of our camps.

Volunteer at Family Camp

Volunteer at Family Camp

Friday 2nd - Monday 5th January 2026

Family Camp is so much fun, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make Family Camp 2026 happen!

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of this event. They serve our guests by running the canteen, assisting with activities, caring for children, and spending time with families (just a for few hours a day).

In your downtime you can hang out with your mates by the pool. Our past volunteers have mentioned this is their favourite of all of our events to help with.

Join us from 12:30pm Friday and depart 2:30pm Monday.
