Group Venues & Meeting Spaces

 
Located on the stunning Kapiti Coast, El Rancho is just 45 minutes from Wellington and an hour from Palmerston North.  

Across our large 60 acre site, we offer a range of Group Venues and Meeting Spaces.  

Kauri Hall, Apiti Chapel and Founders Lounge can be booked on their own, other spaces detailed below are part of accommodation complexes, that usually require accommodation to be booked alongside them.

 

Kauri Hall

If you need a lot of space, Kauri Hall is perfect!

Kauri Hall is a conference venue or concert hall, seating up to 700 people theatre-style with staging and roll out carpet.

Designed also for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and games, roller skating, rockwall climbing and team-building activities.

Even if it’s pouring wet outside, the fun just keeps on going inside.

 

Apiti Chapel

Situated on a hill overlooking our site, this picturesque wooden chapel is steeped in history. Step through the little steepled porchway, and you’ll be
transported back in time to New Zealand’s early pioneering days.

Built in 1899 and originally sited near Feilding, it has been a quiet retreat for many generations of worshippers. The name “Apiti” means Gorge, named after
the river landscape where the church originally stood.

In 1988 the chapel was re-sited to El Rancho and carefully restored. The original stained glass window has been removed and remains in Fielding and a new
window was commissioned, reflecting the unique Kapiti Coast seascape. The Church provides a beautiful setting for small wedding ceremonies.

Apiti Chapel seats approximately 60 people.

 

Founders Lounge

Once used as a fully functioning cafe, Founders Lounge has it's own disabled bathroom facility and large kitchen space. 

The kitchen includes fridges, hot plates and an oven. There is also a wood burner to keep you toasty warm during the winter months.

There is a range of couches, seats and small and medium sized tables.  These can be configured in whatever way best suits your requirements.


Founders Lounge is suitable for small groups of up to 30 people.
 

Elm Fireside & Elm Hall

Elm Fireside Room is ideal for gatherings of 20 to 60 people with a kitchenette, sunken conversation pit complete with a gas log burner. 

Elm Hall is a larger venue, seating up to 130 and fully equipped for conferences and retreats with a kitchenette.

Both of these Elm spaces are not often available to be booked as stand alone spaces, priority is given to groups booking the Elm accommodation alongside.

 

Redwood Hall & Redwood Auditorium

Redwood Hall is a large games hall with a huge log-burning fireplace. The concrete floor can be carpeted for more comfortable conferences or large meetings. Seating can be provided for up to 200 people.

Redwood Auditorium is a theatre-style meeting room with upholstered seating for 180 and a small stage. It is equipped with a sound system, data projector and piano.

Both of these Redwood spaces are not often available to be booked as stand alone spaces, priority is given to groups booking the Redwood accommodation alongside.

 

Pinewood Hall

Pinewood Hall can be set up as a games room for group activities with a pool table, table tennis and Ed's Alley game.

It can also be used as a meeting hall with built in fireplace and seating for around 100 people.

Pinewood Hall is not often available to be booked as a stand alone space, priority is given to groups booking the Pinewood accommodation alongside.
